Come along and celebrate their first ever open studio event with a studio trail and lots of events for all the family. Artists and craftspeople will be opening their studios and providing demonstrations free of charge. Included in this will be the exhibition at the Chapel Gallery., St.Helens Road Ormskirk, which features work from artists both local and from further afield, including Liver Club artists Kurt Dereli and Phil Garrett! Maps and details available at the Chapel St. gallery or any of the venues.

Calderstones Exhibition

By the time you read this the exhibition will be nearly over. the
weather hasn’t been wonderful but we have had a reasonable number of
people in, despite the howling winds and driving rain! The standard of
the work has been commented on favourably, so I think we have had a
small but discriminating public.

Art on the Internet

For most of us, a computer has become a vital tool, and artists have not
been slow to see its potential. One phenomenon is the “Painting a Day” ,
where, as the name suggests, artists try to post a new painting every
day. Below is a list of some I have found, if you know of others let me
know:

www.dailypaintworks.com A host site featuring many artists, most
American.
www.duanekeiser.com An American artist who specialises in small still
lives of ordinary objects. (Have you ever thought of painting a peanut
butter sandwich?)
www.terrymiura.com Another American artist, living in the Sacremento Valley (sigh). His blog studio notes is worth a look
Shifting light.com light.com The painting a day site of British artist Julian
Merrow Smith who is based in Provence (another sigh) and paints lovely
landscapes and still lives with the occasional portrait.
Also worth a look:
www.Learningtosee.co.uk A blog by the Artist Paul
Foxton detailing his experiences learning to draw what he sees.
Essential Vermeer. Everything you ever wanted to know about the painter
Vermeer.
And don’t forget every museum and art gallery has it’s own website, so
you can look around any art gallery in the world without leaving home!

Also www.artinliverpool.com has a downloadable map of all the galleries
in Liverpool.
