THE LIBRARY
First off, Bill Hassall, our librarian reports that the library is in good shape and still welcomes any donations to swell the already bursting shelves. He points out that some members have been especially generous with donations in particular Keith Jones who has donated a remarkable number of wonderful books. If we, by any chance have a donation of a book we already have, Bill says he will put it up for sale to use the proceeds to buy more books, so don’t feel upset if you see your donation for sale! Other recent additions include the catalogue of the recent Vincent Van Gogh Letters show at the Royal Academy in London. If you are going to a show that you think would interest members of the LSC, do bring back a catalogue for the library, for which you will be renumerated.
ART FAIR WEST KIRBY
The first art fair in Coronation Gardens in West Kirby was held on the bank holiday Monday and a great success it was too, owing a lot to the weather which was bright and sunny. The next one is to be on July 4 and then on the first Sunday of August and September. If these go well we hope to have it as a regular event on the West Kirby social calendar, so come along on the 4 July.
EXHIBITION NEWS
The Club held a two-day exhibition in Croxteth Hall over the Bank Holiday weekend. Large numbers of people, mainly family groups, visited the exhibition en route to their guided tour of the Hall.
The Club will be holding its annual exhibition at The Coach House in Calderstones Park from July 12th to 25th. Weather permitting there will also be some arts activity outside the exhibition on Sunday afternoon July 18th when we hope to engage with some of the families visiting the Park.
